Bach B Minor Mass – Rehearsals and Awayday Workshop

John is already working hard on arrangements for next term’s exciting 150th concert performance.  This presents us with the opportunity to learn and perform what is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of choral music.  To afford us the best possible familiarisation of the work, we plan to hold split rehearsals on the following dates:

January 30th, February 6th, 20th and 27th and March 13th 2017

On these evenings, the sopranos and altos will meet as usual at the Oldham Hall, where John and Michael will help us to learn our parts, with a bit more “note bashing” than we normally enjoy.  Meanwhile the men will, for the first half of the rehearsal, meet at the Great Missenden Baptist Church on the High Street, where Rhidian Jones has very kindly offered to do the same for the tenor and bass parts.  At break time, around 2045 hrs, the men will move to the Oldham Hall where we will all rehearse together for the remainder of the evenings.

Also, a reminder about the Awayday Workshop which will take place on 21st January 2017 at Missenden Abbey.  John has planned a full day of singing and fascinating insights into the composition of this work.  It is hoped that every member of the choir will attend that day, so we have given you plenty of notice to enable you to put the date in your diaries.  Further detail will follow shortly.
